Job Purpose

To enhance Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation’s reputation as the North’s leading provider of independent education for children aged 3 to 18, based in the heart of Durham City.

The role holder is responsible for marketing and communications activity as set out in the School Marketing Strategy and annual marketing plan.

Main responsibilities:

  • To fully understand the benefits of a Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation education and ensure that these are communicated with consistency and via the most effective channels to all stakeholders, including prospective and current parents, pupils, staff, Governors and the wider community;
  • Delivery of high quality, impactful and creative marketing to best position Chorister and Durham Schools regionally, nationally and internationally;
  • Understand and protect the school’s brand values and ensure consistency of usage across all platforms;
  • Day to day delivery of the school’s annual marketing plan for the both Chorister School and Durham School;
  • Support the integration of a culture of communication across all facets of the school to ensure marketing and communications is informed, timely and inclusive to best represent the breadth and quality of pupil experience at Durham Cathedral Schools Foundation;
  • Under the direction of the Director of Admissions & Marketing, to produce a wide range of digital and traditional marketing outputs, as well as communications materials and promotional publications;
  • Write content for the website and social media channels;
  • Assist in organising events to enhance pupil recruitment and ensure good relations with current parents;
  • Support the school’s media relations needs, maintaining good links with local media, issuing press releases to raise the profile of the school’s achievements, and to facilitate the development of relevant editorial and comment when required and advertising in appropriate media;
  • Produce and place advertising as guided by the Director of Admissions & Marketing;
  • Support the production of newsletters including the weekly Friday Flyer parent newsletter, marketing mailings and other communications as required;
  • Manage the school’s photographic library for use in marketing and communications;
  • Work closely with teaching staff to collate success stories and information on new initiatives which are used to promote the school;
  • Support the wider functioning of the Admissions & Marketing as required;
  • Occasional work undertaken in the evenings and at weekends.
