The Marketing and Communications Officer delivers a wide range of important duties in direct support of MiA’s key activities and projects in Cebu, including the UK administration of the Schooling Programme and Child Sponsorship. This post holder is also responsible for the implementation of the charity’s communications strategy, marketing and public relations, ensuring its work and achievements are clearly detailed and coherently conveyed to all recipients.

Strong team working skills, as well as the ability to work independently, take responsibility and personal ownership of agreed tasks to ensure their effective and timely delivery, are key to the success of this role. An ability to respond to changing deadlines and emerging needs is essential.

  • All UK-end administration of the Child Sponsorship Programme, including management of the database, communication with sponsors, writing child profiles.
  • Printing and posting out communications, including thank you cards, for sponsors and donors
  • Donor and child sponsor liaison.
  • Website – responsible for updating latest news and content
  • Social Media – responsible for monitoring and managing all postings, content and permissions for:

o Twitter
o YouTube
o Facebook (MiA ‘external’ page) – assisted by Cebu staff
o Facebook (MiA ‘internal’ page)

  • Enquiries Inbox – actively manage all queries, questions and enquiries received, in conjunction with colleagues as appropriate.
  • Charity database – ensure all records are accurate and up to date
  • Newsletters – create, edit and dispatch 3-4 formal MiA Newsletters per annum, liaising with other members of staff to agree content, in both print and electronic formats.
  • Other key communications – collect and write content and distribute, such as bulk emails through MailChimp, for example.
  • Charity Appeals, including but not restricted to the Christmas Appeal – plan, implement and oversee these appeals and others. Track their progress in order to improve effectiveness year on year
  • Fundraising events – propose, organise, manage and run events and activities as agreed with Director, and respond to ideas for events.
  • Building Ambassadors group – draft or update standard presentations for general use as required, assist in organising Ambassadors’ Days and materials for Ambassadors.
  • Research information for specific initiatives, including fundraising.

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 16 per week
