We are currently seeking an experienced marketeer and communicator who can join the leadership team of Lancashire FA and transform the way we communicate, vastly strengthening the impact of our initiatives, whilst ensuring that, through effective consultation and engagement, we are strategically travelling in the right direction with all our organisation-wide activities.

Being able to recognise and manage the needs of our vast and varied stakeholders, from the football and commercial world, and respond accordingly is essential and, with participation and the sustainability of football at the heart of our work, engaging with young people, so they can help shape the game and encourage and inspire the next generation to participate, needs to be a key skill.

In addition, expertise in constructing exciting and influential comms, that can reach all members of our diverse community is needed, as embedding inclusion within football is key to enabling our vision of ‘a game for everyone’ to be a reality.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the annual Marketing and Communications Plan (developing the objectives and the strategies to achieve the objectives outlined).
  • Control and positively develop Lancashire FA’s brand, reviewing all existing branding and visual imagery and ensuring consistency across all media. Maintain a picture library and record of all published media/articles.
  • Oversee the Lancashire FA digital footprint ensuring there is a central resource for the dissemination of information to all stakeholders and the Lancashire FA website provides a one-stop resource for our footballing community. Leverage SEO and paid advertising to support growth, and effectively interpret google analytics and maximise website visitor sessions.
  • Maintain and grow Lancashire FA’s professional presence on social media, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn (ensuring Lancashire FA is using appropriate technology and platforms to respond to social media trends).
  • Write/proofread all Lancashire FA’s internal and external (including crisis) comms and publications, coordinating design and delivery to ensure consistency of message and maximum impact.
  • Manage incoming media requests, proactively protecting/promoting the reputation of Lancashire FA when handling any major incidents and develop links within local media to increase coverage of Lancashire FA activities (promoting a programme of public events, including County Cup finals).
  • Review/respond to The FA’s Grassroots Survey and provide marketing and comms support to clubs and leagues.
  • Co-ordinate comms/marketing activities from initiation to delivery and evaluation ensuring objectives/actions are achieved and support all survey activities from a comms perspective.
  • Manage the customer excellence programme, the Lancashire FA Awards evening and develop/launch the Lancashire FA Ambassador programme.
  • As required, undertake relevant market research to identify progress and highlight areas for priority action and create comms to engage with specific football community demographics.
  • Ensure the Association has a planned approach to youth engagement and demonstrates it can communicate in a child-friendly manner with under-18s. As part of the Lancashire FA youth engagement strategy listen to and consult with under-18s on their experiences of grassroots football. Utilise and assess the feedback from under-18s and adults at risk, and share within Lancashire FA to ensure planned activities respond to this feedback and will enhance the experience and fun and safety in grassroots football.
  • Ensure Lancashire FA promotes safeguarding through its communication channels, signposting policy, procedures, advice, guidance, and information for youth and open-age adult grassroots football with 16/17-year olds and disability football and support messaging so that under-18s and adults at risk in youth and open-age adult grassroots football know how to report concerns about their wellbeing.
  • Ensure all communications via social media with under-18s are in line with the safeguarding use of social media policies.
  • Provide the highest level of customer excellence to support volunteers across all FA Technology systems (FA Events, Whole Game System, Matchday app and Full-Time).
  • Use national and local customer insight to drive delivery of the Lancashire FA Business Strategy.
  • Contribute to ensuring that safeguarding and equality are embedded throughout Lancashire FA and grassroots football.
  • Support embedding Lancashire FA’s values and inclusion focus throughout the footballing community.
  • Execute tasks as required to meet Lancashire FA’s changing priorities.
  • Follow the Association’s Safer Recruitment policy when recruiting new staff in consultation with the Safeguarding Department.
