Job Purpose

Market quality engineer for TV product.

To support to improve SW quality of TV product by analysing the market quality issues, reporting reproduction environment/steps to SW engineering team, and verifying the fixes, with TV product and customer environment knowledge.

Key Responsibilities & Scope For Decision Making

• Analyse big data of repair and customer claim regarding SW related quality issues.
• Communicate to local QA/CS/Service representatives in each country to get precise information about problems/symptoms.
• Prioritize the market quality issues from repair/call data and potential market impact.
• Make a hypothesis of problem root cause/consequence using Android TV and customer environment knowledge, such as Smart TV system, Android TV SW stack, broadcasting, network service, and connected devices.
• Establish and report reproduction environment/steps for SW engineering team to solve the issues.
• Understanding Android TV system/SW constraint and propose work around to the problem for customers.
• Verify the fix provided by SW engineering team before releasing to the market/customers.
• Follow the latest technologies and standard in TV industries and understand TV customer usecases of each country.
• Work closely with QA, CS, SQA, and SW engineering team in different EU country or Tokyo Sony offices.
• Give basic TV technology training to the newcomers and interns. Provide them mentoring for adaptation to Sony culture.
• Travel may be r equired for European field testing.
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

• A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, engineering or practical science subject or lower qualifications with significant relevant industrial experience.
• General DVB knowledge and previous experience, minimum 2 years.
• Good understanding, evaluation, testing, analysis and reporting in TV technologies.
• SW engineering background on Android OS embedded system.
• High skills in Microsoft Office tools and JIRA database.
• Ability to travel within Europe.
• A team player with good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate clear discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail to make sure that the reports are right first time.
• Ability to work independently to deadlines and to prioritise accordingly.
