BASF plc is a subsidiary of BASF SE, marketing a wide range of BASF products in the UK. These include agricultural solutions, automotive refinish paints, acrylic monomers, fine chemicals, intermediate chemicals, speciality chemicals, dispersions, and plastics. The sales centre for BASF plc and the business service functions for all BASF Group companies operating in the UK, are located in Stockport, Greater Manchester, the headquarters of the BASF Group in the UK. BASF plc is an agent for BTC Europe GmbH, our pan-European in-house distributor, focused on speciality chemicals and performance polymers. As well as the headquarters in Stockport, BASF plc has sites in Alfreton, Bradford, Widnes and Bury St Edmunds.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Market Manager for fruit, vegetables, potatoes and nitrogen management within our Agricultural Solutions division, your role will include the following responsibilities:


  • Setting the strategic direction for the the Crop and Market sector in the UK and Ireland, which includes leading the Campaign Team, developing Market Strategy, and creating Technical Plans.
  • Actively managing the existing portfolio in the UK and Ireland, providing support to Key Account Managers (KAMs) and Business Development Managers (BDMs) in their interactions with customers.
  • Taking charge of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, leading discussions on pricing, and taking ownership of gross profit targets and the 36-month rolling forecast for the portfolio.
  • Conducting thorough reviews of market data, research projects, and ad hoc studies to evaluate the effectiveness of market and product strategies.
  • Leading the preparation of short-term planning (3-year) information for the crop sector and contributing to the annual budget planning process, including the establishment of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as turnover, gross profit, and market share. This should be done in collaboration with the demand creation teams within the European region.
  • Managing and aligning the distribution approach, advisor approach, and grower approach for the country.
  • Ensuring that the market requirements are shared and that sufficient European and Global funding is allocated to support and implement the Crop/Market Strategy. Engaging effectively with colleagues in the European region to ensure a clear understanding of the UK/IRE requirements.
  • Engaging in personal development activities related to marketing, staying updated on current trends and technologies that can enhance your role and personal performance. Keeping abreast of agronomic and product technical developments, market conditions, competitor activities, and channel activities through direct customer engagement as well as collaboration with marketing, BDM, and technical services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educated to degree level with knowledge of all marketing processes and experience from previous roles.
  • Extensive commercial / marketing experience.
  • Ideally, a candidate will also have some years of experience within the fruit, vegetable, potato and/or nitrogen management sectors.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking ability, linking yearly operational needs to strategic planning to develop 1-3 year crop & business strategies.
  • Customer focused to deliver marketing strategies for the demand creation teams to meet or exceed budget.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Ag market including customers, partners, products, the competitive landscape & business cycles.
  • This position is home-based within the UK. #Li-Remote
