Rate:£29.50 ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £22.47 ph PAYE

Our Client has an opportunity for an ambitious Manufacturing Process Engineer to join the PTME Battery Assembly Team. This team supports pioneering electrification developments in support of the client’s high-profile range of exciting electric vehicles. The candidate will be at the forefront of developing new, technologically advanced, electric propulsion systems. The PTME Battery Assembly Team is responsible for the development and introduction of industry leading processes and facilities incorporating state of the art manufacturing technologies.
The successful applicant will be working closely with Product Development Engineers and suppliers to ensure that battery system designs meet world class quality and efficiency standards. The role offers the exciting opportunity of periodic European and overseas travel to work alongside technology leading suppliers. Skills Required:
  • Capable of using CAD to be able to review designs (i.e. Solid Works, CATIA, Teamscentre etc.).
  • Able to write production processes and PFMEAs (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
  • Experience in installing and commissioning manufacturing equipment in any engineering field.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • The candidate will utilise knowledge to develop and implement assembly and in-process test processes and facilities to deliver the safety, quality delivery and cost objectives, detailed planning, development and implementation of installation timing plans with key suppliers.
  • Ensure robust process planning including build simulations and PFMEAs.
  • Support assembly process strategy for manufacturing.
  • Feasibility of design to suit modern assembly and test requirements.
  • Assembly process and equipment verification at suppliers and at manufacturing facility.
  • Support management activities through development and monitoring of timing plans.
  • Support new model planning through development of process estimates against study requests.
  • Manage technical issues and escalate where appropriate.
  • Achieve equipment capability and availability targets.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues where appropriate.
  • Planning, developing and implementation of all written Processes for manufacturing.
  • Planning, developing and implementation of all tooling, jigs and fixtures for manufacturing.
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time-to-time.
Experience Required:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Previous experience of Manufacturing or Engineering processes, tools and techniques.
  • Hands on approach to engineering.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated with sound engineering, communication skills, ideally with experience within volume manufacturing.
  • Experience of facility installation, project management, capability validation, commissioning and product launch.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams and flexibility to support projects from early concepts to launch.
  • Good IT skills and competent with MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project).
  • Ability to use CAD packages to review engineering drawings and models (Catia V6 & Teamcentre etc).
  • Understanding of Safe Automated and Manual Manufacturing System.
  • Ability to problem solve technical and manufacturing issues.
  • Highly motivated and able to work under own initiative.
Experience Preferred:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Ideally, educated to Degree level.
  • HNC / HND in Manufacturing Systems or a similar engineering discipline. However candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Previous project management experience advantageous.
  • Working understanding of GSPAS or similar process creation systems advantageous.
