Advanced is acting as a Recruitment Agency to identify a Manufacturing Manager for a leading British designer and manufacturer of fume cupboards. The Manufacturing Manager will join their Somerset based facility, with a view to taking over from the existing Manager who plans to retire within 12 months..

We are looking for a hands-on engineer with a qualification in Electrical Engineering, an interest in mechanical engineering and hands-on product development experience, who is able to make a positive impact on our client’s business and their customers, who are at the heart of everything they do.

Reporting to the Managing Director you will specifically focus on developing the technical side of their products including product information, in four key areas: -

1. Manage and Develop Production, Technical, Product Development and Purchasing

· Develop the team and structure, ensuring current manufacturing remains professional and efficient.

· Play an active part in specifying and developing manufacturing / accounting software systems.

· Ensure manufacturing processes remain class leading.

2. Product development of existing and new products

· Shape the product development programme identifying opportunities to develop and enhance existing products and bring to market new products.

· Warranty solutions and elimination.

· Identify and develop novel and innovative solutions as technology advances.

3. Communication with our Customers and Service Engineers

· Prepare Technical Files and ensure relevance of Technical Bulletins, Operation and Manufacturing Manuals.

· Act as the point of technical excellence for all staff and customers.

· Deliver technical training.

4. Supervisory responsibilities

· Manage and direct the CAD focussed Design Engineer.

Qualifications:

It is essential you have a qualification in Electrical Engineering. Whilst previous experience in the field of fume cupboards is preferred it is not essential as training will be provided.
