Manufacturing Engineer

Job Purpose:

  • Resolution of manufacturing issues, interface between operations and engineering.
  • Process optimisation and continuous improvement to drive operational efficiency.

Kay Accountabilities:

  • Interfacing between operations and engineering on manufacturing issues, ensuring corrective actions are made as quickly and economically as possible and facilitating effective root cause analysis and implementation of actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Driving operational efficiency through review and enhancement of procedures, machines and equipment involved in manufacturing processes.
  • Developing, evaluating, improving and documenting manufacturing and quality control processes, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and legislation, to enhance cost reduction, optimise production, quality and throughput.
  • Reviewing workflow, equipment placement and factory layouts to maximise manufacturing efficiency.
  • Coordinating maintenance, calibration and repair services to keep production equipment operational and ensure optimal performance.
  • Analysing and reporting on manufacturing processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines and waste management
  • Conduct cost analyses to identify areas for cost reduction without compromising product quality.
  • Introducing lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and streamline workflows.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance overall manufacturing performance.
  • Monitoring adherence to procedure and identifying any concerns to the relevant functional lead.
  • Report to the management team on performance and recommendations.
  • Ensure company health and safety guidelines are always followed, driving a positive culture and escalating or addressing any concerns as appropriate.
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably requested by the company.

Expertise:

  • Proven experience in manufacturing or production engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing/process engineering.
  • Right first time attitude with an understanding of Lean principles.
  • Proactive and hands on individual, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Articulate and numerate, with strong problem-solving capability, attention to detail and adaptability.
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build develop strong relationships.
  • Reasonable level of IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CRM databases.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal Departments and suppliers, able to handle enquiries in a confident, professional, and competent manner.
  • Define TAKT routings.
  • Develop and enhance processes and manufacturing equipment.
