We are currently looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our rail project team supporting our Core Valley Line packages of work in Treforest, South Wales.

Role Responsibility

As Managing Quantity Surveyor you will have worked in a similar industry and will have experience of working on civil engineering projects. Other responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Overseeing the timely submission of valuations and receipt of certificates for payment
  • Securing payments from customers within the specified contract terms
  • Overseeing the team in preparing and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts
  • Recording, monitoring and reviewing the financial performance of a portfolio of contracts
  • Collating and managing financial accounts and report to senior management on performance of multiple projects
  • Leading and presenting to the client on the project performance
  • Support and ensure staff comply with process and requirement of subcontract procurement and management
  • Support pre-contract pricing and agreement of rail project costs. Negotiate contract terms with Client
  • Mentor and manage subordinate staff to include professional development reviews

The Ideal Candidate

It is preferred that the successful candidate is;

  • educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, although other equivalent qualifications may be accepted (HNC/HND)
  • members of a relevant professional body e.g. CICES, RICS
  • experienced of working on general Civil Engineering projects (essential) and of Railway infrastructure projects (preferred).

The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Experience of using the NEC and/or ICC (NR) forms of contract
  • Valid PTS

  • Good IT skills specifically on spreadsheets, databases and the ability to adapt to bespoke software packages
