A leading national contractor are looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their Scotland based team. This business are one of the market leaders in the power transmission market and they also have a growing pipeline of work in renewables. Due to a recent influx in contracts awarded, and a healthy order book for 2023 and well beyond, the business now needs to recruit a Managing Quantity Surveyor to deliver on major transmission works with includes 400kv upgrades and reinforcements. As a Managing Quantity Surveyor you will report to Commercial Director, forming an integral part of the growing Commercial Team. You will lead in the control of costs, maximising value, minimising and accurately forecasting cost, whilst maintaining the required standard of quality and safety. You will work closely with the project teams, liaising with Project Managers, Planners and Site Delivery teams whilst overseeing a team of surveyors from Senior to Assistant level in the delivery of a large sum of transmission related contracts. This role is suited to an experienced Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor from a utilities, energy, water, rail, civil engineering, gas, highways background who has delivered on major projects before, with an excellent understanding of NEC. In this role your responsibilities will include:-Preparation of contract documents
  • Undertake cost analysis
  • Establishing client’s requirements for projects
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control
  • Identifying, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Value completed work and submit Applications for Payment
  • Change management
  • Overseeing the Monthly reports, such as CVR & Forecast Cost To Complete, reporting into the Commercial Director Skills & Knowledge Requirements
  • Previous Quantity Surveying experience at a Senior level
  • Ideally experience overseeing other commercial team members
  • Major project experience, ideally in utilities
  • Experience within the utilities sector would be an advantage but not essential
  • Experience working with NEC contracts (NEC 4 Option A, C &/or E desirable)
