Managing Director – Automotive

Permanent, Silverstone

A unique and brand-new opportunity is available to work for a highly successful, high-profile company who work within emerging EV technologies to convert vehicles into zero emission powertrains.

This is a brand-new role, due to the planned, strategic growth of a major part of the business. The Managing Director is a pivotal position responsible for the operations, management and ultimate commercial success and growth of this very exclusive model. This is a highly strategic, important, side of the business operating division for the company. The business has built a highly influential client base and key to this role will be ensuring that every element of the business meets an operational standard of excellence reflecting the company’s leadership of the sector and the price position of the products. This role reports to the Group CEO and includes management board leadership responsibility.

Key Responsibilities :

· Operational:development and supervision of production and engineering, ensuring these functions deliver on commercial objectives, on time within case and budget. This role will have overall responsibility for long term targets within the business plan for reducing costs and for efficiency of production and reduction of labor hours and delivering these business targets over time. Development and tracking of Key Performance Indicators that can be used to measure progress against business plan objectives.

· Management:overall responsibility for senior level recruitment and supervisory responsibility for first-line senior management. Work with Group CEO and Senior Management to build a productive and positive working culture to drive staff retention and build a stable team at all levels. Working with the Group HR manager to develop a succession plan for key senior roles and an apprenticeship scheme to feed in new members of the team.

· Governance:Leadership of Management Board with reporting responsibility at a Group and Supervisory Board level.This includes reporting to investors in line with overall company governance.

· Business Development:working alongside Group CEO and Group Commercial Director in building business cases for new product lines and defining long-term strategic planning. Working with the client management team to communicate key production milestones with clients, invoice correctly for stage payments and manage expectations for delivery dates.

· Compliance:Ensuring products, processes and operational practices comply to UK, EU and global standards. This includes leading on the import of vehicles from and export to global markets. Development and supervision of the execution to meet relevant UK safety standards and their equivalents across the world.

· Financial:Ultimate responsibility for Divisional P&L including setting of budgets, setting of financial targets including Gross Profit, Cost Down and the development and supervision of departmental objectives versus agreed business cases.
