Summary
- The unit’s primary focus is to guide, coach and carry out the independent assessment of trainee investigation and intelligence officers. This provides assurance that those who complete our highly regarded training programme are occupationally competent and capable of leading the fight against serious organised crime.

- To conduct and lead financial investigations in support of the National Crime Agency’s objectives, supervising or mentoring staff in support of this.
- To conduct and support money laundering and economic crime investigations in accordance with NCA policy and legislative requirements and maximise the effective use of the proceeds of crime act and other legislation.
- To contribute to the acquisition and development of tactical and strategic intelligence through targeted research, open source searches, behavioural, analytical, comparative studies and/or prevention initiatives focused on serious and organised crime affecting the UK, particularly money laundering and economic crime investigations.
- To sift and analyse large volumes of data, follow complex financial paper-trails, and seek and act upon opportunities to obtain evidential material.
- Take on specific roles within a larger case team, ensuring all legal and operational requirements are met on the way to preparing cases for submission to the CPS, or in the case of Unexplained Wealth Orders and Civil Recovery, to the NCA’s Legal Department.
- Build effective external partnerships, collaborate with other NCA units, wider UK law enforcement, international counterparts, and Government departments.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of accredited coaches and assessors, coordinating resource and monitoring performance to ensure the units delivery of appropriately skilled and accredited staff to meet NCA key operational objectives. Work with key partners to identify opportunities for trainees to achieve timely completion of “end point assessments” in pursuance of their PIP / IPP accreditations.
Participate in key external stakeholder (e.g. Crown Prosecution Service, Police Forces) programmes and consultations, representing the NCA in contributing to legislative and procedural changes and translating these to operational standards / guidance for the benefit of the NCA.
Lead operational debriefs / reviews in order to identify and promulgate best practice to ensure lessons are learnt and all potential opportunities for future improvement across all operational activity within the NCA is maximised.

Licences
Qualifications
PIP2 Supervisor Accreditation or equivalent level experience.
NVQ assessor accreditation / qualification or equivalent (or working towards accreditation)
