Job Summary:

The Maintenance Team Manager is r esponsible for leading the maintenance team with a hands-on approach ensuring all work requirements are in place for deliverable tasks which include routine preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown maintenance, project delivery and analysis of condition monitoring outputs.

Responsibilities:
  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company/project policies, working practices and procedures ensuring that mechanical maintenance and installation tasks are completed safely to a high standard at all times
  • Plan all tasks in line with priorities set by Engineering Manager and Production Manager and work with the Maintenance Scheduler to develop ongoing planned work programmes
  • Provide supervisory support to mechanical fitters and multi-disciplined teams as required
  • Provide support to projects and process engineering through design reviews, management of change and reliability reviews of project requirements. Take part in, and contribute to HAZOP, HAZID and LOPA exercises to ensure continued compliance with HSE guidance and best practice
  • Conduct analysis of condition based monitoring outputs from both completed task history and installed monitoring systems. Liaise with suppliers and contractors for on-site support as required
  • Ensure materials are available for task completion through spares analysis, proactive procurement and engagement with projects, process engineering and production manager
  • Liaise with operations shift managers for preventative maintenance and breakdown task support, where required assist with detailed fault finding and maintenance/ repair tasks on plant
  • Write, read, review and audit maintenance instructions, method statements and risk assessments both internally and provided by contractors to ensure they meet the company policy on safety
  • Conduct prescribed inspection routines and alarm/trip testing to comply with the UK COMAH safety management system plan
  • Apply for and approve (where required) relevant permits to work (PTW) in order to complete tasks in a controlled and safe manner
  • Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments and Non-Routine Job Assessments (NRJ) in order to complete tasks in a safe and controlled manner
  • Conduct root cause analysis and major breakdown reviews to eliminate repeat failures
  • Complete reliability based studies and in conjunction with the engineering manager develop appropriate maintenance activities to support reliability outputs and other improvements.

Qualifications/Desired Skills:
  • 4 Year Apprenticeship or Level 2 NVQ equivalent
  • City and Guilds (C&G) Mechanical Fitting or Assembly and or NVQ Level 3 in related trade.
  • Experience with condition based monitoring techniques such as Vibration Analysis and Ultrasound techniques
  • Reliability Centred Maintenance understanding and training attendance would be of benefit.

Experience:
  • Experience conducting mechanical fitters role in an upper tier COMAH site, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrable experience in a maintenance or engineering support role
  • Experience in hazardous areas (ATEX/DSEAR)
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel etc) Member of or working towards professional registration with relevant engineering institutions (IEng, CEng) is desirable.
