The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic maintenance assistant + supervisor to join our team. We require someone who is able to carry out basic repairs across plumbing, electrics, carpentry and general painting. You will also be required to assist in the maintenance of our 2 swimming pools and hot tubs. Full training will be provided.

This role will suit someone who is self-motivated and enjoys the challenge that every day brings in the Hotel. No two days are alike and you need to offer solutions to the many problems that present themselves each day. Working with the support of a small team of eight we need someone who is flexible with regards to their work and have a can-do positive attitude.

This role does include working weekends on a rota basis and typical hours are 7:30am-5:15pm. Uniform is provided as are tools. The maintenance department of this luxury hotel provides coverage 365 days a year.

Background

The Nare Hotel, positioned as ‘the country house hotel by the sea’, is Cornwall’s top luxury hotel. Sitting in its own grounds, overlooking a beach with perfect sea views, the hotel offers traditional standards of comfort, luxury and service that are increasingly difficult to find in the modern world. Rated by the AA as the best hotel in Cornwall every year for the last 15 years, it is set in some 8 acres,has 40 well-appointed rooms, a traditional ‘Dining Room’ and a fine dining restaurant. In addition, the hotel offers a broad range of leisure facilities including tennis, croquet, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a small spa with three treatment rooms and a 38’ motor launch which takes guests on excursions.

The Nare is now about to enter a phase of significant growth with the development of further accommodation in the form of 4 two-bedroom cottages, two larger four bedroom houses and two additional wings to the hotel which will provide six extremely spacious suites. This will coincide with our ambitions of leading the County into the 5-star market.

Candidate Criteria

This is a very high-quality operation and accordingly, candidates must have a significant aspiration to working in quality hotels. Whilst at one level this is a traditional business, it is also progressive, and candidates should be able to demonstrate a much more contemporary outlook on life and an ability to adapt to a fast-moving, busy operation.

You will need a solid background and access to your own transport in order for this position to be viable.
