Smart Manufacturing Solutions are recruiting for Site Maintenance Lead, on behalf of our client based in Prudhoe, South Northumberland.


  • Overview
The responsibilities and duties of the role are outlined below but will include any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Operations Lead.

The primary function of the role is to act as key point of contact between the customer and Dyer Engineerings manufacturing facility, managing all site-based activities and customer maintenance requirements. Acting as Dyer Engineerings main representative at the customers production facility, maintaining a positive working relationship with the customers engineering and maintenance teams and providing support for all technical matters.

Technical Knowledge Of Industrial Pipework And Fittings

BSP screwed pipework, ferrous and non-ferrous

Thin gauge non-ferrous pipe, tafts, gaskets and spinning flanges

Condensate and steam pipework

On-site measuring for pipework and fabricated steel structures (platforms, ladders, stairs etc)

Create material lists for maintenance activities

Ability to solve problem

Develop and maintain RAMs for specific site activities

Speak regularly with your team to ensure they are safe and well to carry out their duties

Health & Safety related procedures and regulations

Working in line with customer site safety rules and ensuring control measures are in place

Working in accordance with customers permit to work systems
  • Planning, Delivery & Output Provide and implement engineering solutions to customer problems/breakdowns
Plan and schedule maintenance activities based on customer requirements, for a team comprised of fabricators, welders and fitters

Maintaining sufficient manning and skills to support delivery of the customer requirements

Working proactively with Dyer Engineering manufacturing facility and material suppliers to ensure any issues / shortages are resolved within a timely manner

Notifying the Operations Lead when additional capacity or skills are required to carry out specific jobs/tasks

Allocating all hours and materials against specific projects

Submitting and managing team timesheets
  • Communication / Team Briefs Regular communications are a very important and impactful element of the role and careful consideration should be given to clarity and tone of messages / briefs / toolbox talks, while also taking on-board any feedback and liaising with the management team to seize opportunities for improvement and resolve any grievances.
Team briefs should happen on a weekly basis and cover:

Health & Safety

Any accidents or near miss reporting

Open the floor to any concerns anyone may have around their environment

Re-enforce the need for good housekeeping, 5S, clear walkways, fire exits, etc.

Celebrate any successes and recognise any achievements, be it induvial or team based

Commercial

How the business is performing against targets

Tool box talks to be conducted on a job by job basis
  • Holiday Management Ensure there is always a visible and up to date Holiday Planner which is shows the following:
12-month view

List of team members in the department

Rules around maximum number to be off at any given time

Display hrs booked off per day per employee

Communicate a self-management policy around holidays where only permissible requests are submitted through the holiday app

Take discretionary decisions for special circumstances but ensure these are communicated to the Operations Lead
  • Operations Team / HR Training and development of the team
Payroll approval

Being part of the recruitment & onboarding process, candidate assessments, interviewing process, etc.

Management of communications, team briefs, training matrix, skills management

Ensuring all recruitment and employment is carried out in accordance with company procedure & policies

Being aware of and promoting manufacturing best practice and performance standards and developing and monitor performance standards

Identifying individual training needs and implementing, monitoring and reviewing training and development plans

Addressing any staff discipline or grievance issue, maintaining appropriate records in accordance with company procedures

Carry out probation (1, 3 & 6 months) & pay reviews, alongside the Operations Lead
