Description


The Maintenance Section Leader is a skilled person working within the area maintenance & reliability team. The objective of the team is to deliver quality maintenance, repairs and improvement works so that we can sustain mastered plant reliability, so that we meet or beat our plant reliability target of 96.5% year on year.

The key functions within the team are as follows:

  • Safely execute effective plant maintenance within allocated plant downtime.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to complete weekly, monthly & annual maintenance activities such as Inspections, servicing, and repairs of process plant & ancillaries.

Plant Reliability & Maintenance
  • Deliver quality maintenance activities following Job procedures, technical drawings, maintenance manuals & plans
  • Execute quality planned Maintenance (PM’s) work such as Fixed Plant servicing, inspection and repairs
  • Provide quality engineering feedback, recording useful information on completed work orders to aid continuous improvement.
  • Actively contribute to resolving plant issues, reactive breakdown repairs Liaise & collaborate with production team to make sure maintenance activities are checked and tested prior to handing over to production teams
  • Liaise with engineering stores to ensure spare parts are physically in stock, correct and in time for requirement
  • Identify spare part information so that we can link to equipment.
  • To identify follow on work and information gaps to aid planning improvement
  • Working in partnership with contractor support when required
  • Supporting external Inspection engineers/auditors with respect to statuary inspections & audits
  • Assist Engineers with area Improvement projects, implementation of good ideas and improvement initiatives.
  • Actively contribute to the delivery of successful Major Repairs & projects.
  • Ensuring Maintenance is compliant with HSE&Q regulations such as PUWER & CDM regulations etc
  • Providing information to improve the documentation of technical information such as technical drawings & specifications.
  • Support Condition Based Monitoring – Collection of basic Vibration Data, Oil Sampling & First Level Inspections
  • Specific/Execution Inspections – Measuring and recording information to aid the Reliability Department Preventative maintenance – Laser alignment and balancing in support of the Reliability Department.
System Requirements
  • Updating information via computerised maintenance management systems/Assure/Opralog to capture relevant information & maintenance history e.g. inputting and completion of work requests/PM strategies etc.
  • Utilising Process information to help identify plant faults.
  • Competent using handheld technology e.g. tablet computer.
Apprentice Development
  • Support and develop apprentices/trainees by sharing knowledge and information and offering guidance.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


Preferred Qualifications:
(a) Plant Maintenance
  • Has completed an Apprenticeship or can demonstrate significant competency & experience/training.
  • FLT/MEWP/Overhead crane/slinging & rigging
(b) Lubrication
BINDT Lubrication level 1 or similar
(c) Environmental
  • Environmental Awareness Training
  • Waste duty of care training
  • COSHH
(d) Health & Safety
  • IOSH Working safely
  • ISO Standards (Basics)
  • Face Fit
  • Manual Handling Training
  • LOTOTO Isolation
  • Working at height & Confined space
Experience:
  • Min 2-3 years relevant experience post approved apprenticeship completion.
  • Experience of working in a heavy industrial environment is desirable, as is experience of working within an automated production facility.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge:
  • You will need to demonstrate experience of strong mechanical skills, such as welding, cutting, fabricating, bench fitting and machining.
  • Good knowledge of gear boxes, pumps, bearings, coupling fitting and machine alignment, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, filtration systems fixed and mobile plant.
  • Knowledge of IT systems, including maintenance management systems, MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Handheld technology etc.
