Maintenance Person / Handyman

Responsibilities

To regularly check fabric of the buildings and grounds and to advise a Director / Administrative Manager of any repair work that may be required.
To undertake any such repair and maintenance work as required with due regard to Health & Safety rules.
To undertake simple repairs to plant installations and equipment with due regard to Health & Safety rules.
To clear away rubbish and debris from the garden and grounds, bagging up for waste disposal or composting, as appropriate.
To ensure the safe and secure storage of all hazardous materials in accordance with the requirements of the C.O.S.H.H. Regulations.
To ensure the maintenance and safe and secure storage of tools and garden equipment.
To undertake routine maintenance and complete paperwork detailing maintenance.
To supervise and guide external contractors when on site.
To respond to out of hours maintenance emergencies as required.
To maintain gardens and tend to flower beds and borders as required.
Ad hoc collection of prescriptions / delivery of medical samples.
To undertake other duties, as necessary.

Skills / Knowledge / Temperament

This is a hands-on role. The successful application will be someone who likes to roll their sleeves up and fix things.
A working knowledge of a wide range of maintenance tasks is essential – plumbing, tiling, electrics, painting / decorating, plastering, carpentry, bathroom fitting.
A proactive and can-do attitude is essential.
This person will want to work proactively as part of a team to solve problems and make our residents lives better.
Able to work under own initiative.
Driving licence and own transport required.
