We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanical Technician to join our Facilities department providing support to business operations M&E as well as general building maintenance, ensuring safety at all times.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight, you will need to display the following:


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance repairs and services.
  • Perform planned preventative/reactive maintenance tasks to all associated equipment.
  • Operation of plant and equipment inspection of M&E equipment and systems to ensure safe operations in accordance with statutory/or regulatory compliance and adherence to agreed procedures and company standards.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Assist with the renovation of buildings; repair, plaster and repainting.
  • Repair/replace fixtures and fittings.
  • Perform outside custodial duties such as snow removal etc as required.
  • Maintain records of maintenance procedures.
  • Complete checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; order parts as needed.
  • Report any incidents or accidents.
  • To wear any protective clothing provided by the Company.
  • Ensure safety in the workplace and in this respect ensure compliance with all instructions relating to the use and storage of materials/equipment necessary for the performance of his/her tasks.
  • Follow health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • It is quite likely that out of hours working will from time to time be required. This will be by mutual consent and may on occasion involve overseas travel.
  • To undertake other tasks of an appropriate nature in consultation with the Site Manager.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE


Essential

  • Time served trade in mechanical/fitter in engineering.
  • Building services maintenance experience.
  • Good diagnostic skills.
  • Current clean driving licence.
  • Ability to work under pressure and unsupervised.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Out of hours call out system rota.

Desirable

  • Forklift truck licence.
  • Furnace experience
  • Previous experience in industrial or Laboratory maintenance.
  • Knowledge of “permit to work” systems and compliance with maintenance standards and good industry practices.

Hours of work - 37.5 hours per week between Monday - Friday on 08:30 - 17:00 (within 1hr unpaid lunch break)
