Michael Page are working with working with a Blackburn based FMCG business to recruit a Maintenance Manager. This innovative packaging manufacturer has a manufacturing and distribution presence in over 30 countries and distribute their products worldwide.
Job Description
The Maintenance Manager will report directory into the Engineering Manager and will form a crucial part of the leadership team. They will be responsible for managing a team of c20 engineers to maintain all assets within production.
Other day to day responsibilities will include:
- Using the engineering team to safely minimise downtime while staying within the repairs and maintenance budget
- To continually look to improve the operation and assist in cost saving initiatives to improve processes within the production and engineering areas
- Controlling engineering resource so it is utilised effectively at all times
- Take responsibility for organisation and delivery of direct projects from start to completion
- Carry out skills gap analysis to highlight areas for training and re-training to ensure sufficient skills across engineering function
- To ensure all staff under your control follow the rules and regulations of the factory working safely and hygienically at all times
- Responsible for maintaining engineering spend within company set budget
- Carry out near miss and accident investigation when required and carry out safety auditing once per month
- Responsible for maintaining a good standard of safety and housekeeping in all engineering areas
- To raise Capex docs in line with the FMT direction and to support cost saving and improvement
- A demonstrable background in engineering leadership
- Experience with injected moulding processes or similar
- Strong communicator
- Excellent technical engineering knowledge of both Mechanical/Electrical and automation tasks
- Ability to engage team and drive KPI’s
- Knowledge of working on BRC accredited site (preferred)
- Excelling problem solving tools and techniques
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
