Maintenance Engineer

Location: Thorne, near Doncaster

Salary: Up to £45k plus mobile phone, pension, AMRC training scheme and other benefits

Our client is a family run company who are a long-established UK aluminium die casting specialist manufacturer based in Thorne, near Doncaster. They now offer a wide range of manufacturing, design-for-manufacture and prototyping services and are expanding into a new factory on their own 2 acre site. They now have an opening for a Maintenance Engineer to join the existing Senior Management Team, who will report to the Directors.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring, through a programme of planned maintenance, testing and inspection, that all plant and machinery, including CNC machining centres, powder coating equipment and die-casting machines, is kept in good and safe working order.

Key Responsibilities/Duties to include:

  • Where breakdowns occur the post holder is expected to rectify the problem directly wherever able to do so or otherwise arrange for repairs to be undertaken externally by specialist contractors including DMG Mori (CNC machining centres), Oskar Frech and Ramsell Naber (pressure casting machinery and furnaces), and ITW Gema (powder coating equipment).
  • Required to keep up to date an inventory of plant and equipment together with details of maintenance plans and maintenance and repair work undertaken on each item of plant.
  • Responsible for constructing an annual expenditure budget consistent with these responsibilities, submitting this to the Directors for approval prior to the beginning of each financial year.
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment remains in its designated area
  • Be aware of their responsibilities for Health & Safety in the manufacturing environment
  • Any other duties which the Directors deem reasonable.

Key skills/experience or requirements:

  • Minimum L3 qualified engineer with ideally at least five years’ experience of maintaining software-controlled hydraulically operated machinery in a pressure casting or injection moulding environment.
  • Responsive and flexible in the light of production requirements.
  • Willing to undertake any training relevant to the role
  • Able to use initiative but work as part of a management team.
