Job Description
-The Site Services team supports the activities at the Element Six Global Innovation Centre (GIC) with facilities management, machine installations, maintenance, and repairs. It is a multi-skilled team covering a wide range of disciplines such as electrical installations, control systems, vacuum technology, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

With this role we are looking to reinforce the team with an experienced mechanical-oriented engineer who enjoys combining hands-on installation and repair work with systems and leadership support for the site Engineering Manager. For the right person this is an exciting opportunity to grow new skills and develop their career.

Duties and tasks

  • Fault finding and problem solving of equipment
  • Hands-on repairs, maintenance, and installation work
  • Contractor management, including inductions, safety plans, and performance evaluation
  • Project manage service, upgrades, and installations
  • Produce risk assessments, operating procedures, and equipment documentation for the team’s needs. Support other team members to produce such documentation to a high standard
  • Review procedures, work practices, and maintenance plans for improved cost effectiveness
  • Demonstrate professionalism, quality awareness, and an active engagement for high safety standards
  • Deputize for Engineering Manager when required
  • Actively seek to develop depth and breadth of skills

  • Qualifications
    -NVQ, HNC, B.Tec or similar qualifications and a recognised apprenticeship, in an engineering-based discipline
  • Proficient in upkeep and fault finding on mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. Advantageous to have a wide set of engineering skills, in particular hydraulics, vacuum systems, pneumatics, and PLC controls
  • Experienced in safe contractor management
  • Good general understanding of health, safety, and quality standards and ability to carry out risk assessments and write operating procedures to a high standard
  • Good communication skills within a Team environment when working under pressure
  • Good IT skills with proficiency in standard office software and relevant software for data acquisition, treatment, and processing
