Howdens Joinery has an exciting opportunity for you to work as a Machine Operator at our Manufacturing and Distribution site in Runcorn, Cheshire, starting ASAP.

We’re recruiting for a team of Machine Operators to join us. This is an essential role where you will safely manufacture a range of panels, rails and frontals. You’ll be interacting with various teams across our business, including forklift truck drivers, operations management, quality control staff on daily production and our maintenance team regarding machine breakdowns and other issues which may arise. Therefore, you’ll need to have excellent people and communication skills for this role and be able to confidently share your knowledge, experience and best practice with your colleagues.

Pay Rate As a Machine Operator
  • £15.81 basic rate plus shift allowance and performance bonus.
The Role Currently Operates a 3 Shift Rota System
  • Week 1 - 07.00am – 3.00pm (Monday to Friday)
  • Week 2 – 11.00pm – 7.00am (Sunday to Thursday)
  • Week 3 – 3.00pm – 11.00pm (Monday to Friday)
The Machine Operator Needs To Have Experience In Planning And Organising Your Equipment And Be Able To Use The Following Equipment
  • Board Loader
  • Rip Saw
  • Roller Transfer
  • Combination Edge Bander
  • Mult Bore Drilling
  • Stackers
  • Standalone Saws
  • Drill Dowellers
Our Machine Operators Need To
  • Be able to operate the machines safely, effectively and efficiently within the production plan.
  • Work to drawing specifications to produce products accurately and to the correct quality standards.
  • Be able to read and understand KPIs and their impact on decisions regarding production.
  • Have diagnostic and problem solving skills.
  • Be able to read and understand manual handling risk assessments specific to the task.
  • Adhere to H&S standards, company quality standards, output of machines and housekeeping.
  • Have an NVQ Level 2 in Health & Safety, Manufacturing Operations and be MES compliant.
