Position Title: Logistics Manager Hiring Manager: S Fruin Operations Director

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As the Logistics Manager you will be responsible for the management and the delivery of effective import, export, Compliance, inter-country & domestic freight movements to and from Crane Merchandising Systems Ltd (‘the Company’) to support supply chain requirements, obligations and associated processes in in an efficient, timely, accurate, cost effective manner and ensuring full compliance with transport regulations and company policy. Along with the ownership of the Spares function and shipping.

Responsible for ensuring shipments are arranged in line with our customer expectations. You will have knowledge of regulations and shipping requirements across the globe by Sea and Air, and be responsible for ensuring we deal with reputable, reliable shipping partners.

Liaise with and assist internal departments employees, customers, Customs, freight agents & other regulatory organisations where necessary to achieve the requirements of the business, customer satisfaction and maintain compliance.

Ensure that items contained in shipments identified as hazardous / dangerous goods, are shipped in full policies and regulations currently in force and that training & authority to effect such shipments are maintained as required.

Maintain accurate documentation, records, movement logs & produce reports where required for statistical, regulatory & audit requirements. Retain and archive commercial documentation in line with company retention policies

Maintain and update HS tariff codes applicable to the business and advise of any changes where these impact on company business operations.

Investigate new, implement & maintain HMRC regimes that bring added financial value to the business.

Management of all freight related invoices ensuring that freight costs, Duty & VAT are allocated correctly to the applicable cost centres or job related events and presented for approval.

Develop & maintain vendor relationships, monitor performance and negotiate best value pricing to assist competiveness & financial related targets.

Act as the Company specialist on compliance, defining and monitoring standard work and communicating requirements to ensure processes and employees are ‘export aware’.

Keep current and up to date with current export restrictions and regulations in force.

Provide educational support and information all company team members of the relevant legislation & our import / export requirements and obligations. Apply for required licenses, certification and authorisations under the Export Control regimen.

International Trade Compliance - to ensure the Company compliance, defining and monitoring standard work and communication requirements to ensure processes and employees are ‘export aware’. Under my guidance and coordination, all departments’ leads are responsible to comply and flow down export control requirements through their respective departments.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The candidate should have experience in shipping and receiving goods to/ from international locations. To include knowledge and experience of:

  • Creation of shipping documents and customs declarations
  • Customs rules, regimes, HS codes and tariffs
  • International trade compliance, Export licensing and export authorisations

Strong communication and negotiating skills will be vital as the role involves liaising with customers, freight providers, technicians, P&WC UK Management and senior Export Compliance officials.

This is a dynamic, fast-paced and exciting environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good organisational skills and be able to effectively prioritise their own workload and manage tight deadlines. Some out of hours support will be required to help the team deliver excellent service to our customers


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Prior experience within a manufacturing and/or distribution company that exports globally
  • Strong administration experience in a logistics environment including import & export knowledge
  • Flexible approach required to support the business in peak times, willingness to learn and adaptable to change
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence working independently as well as in a team
  • Comfortable working towards SLA’s to deliver best in class service
  • booking shipments with forwarders/airlines etc: 3 years (preferred)
  • knowledge of custom clearance: 2 years (required)
  • understanding INCO terms: 2 years (required)
  • shipments internationally: 2 years (preferred)
  • Logistics: 4 years (preferred)
