About the role:

The post-holder will work closely with colleagues across the British Museum on the management of logistics during the Blythe House decant project.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Work with the Project Manager to plan and monitor delivery of relevant Blythe House decant activities, with a particular focus on logistics.
  • Manage a team of Assistant Collection Managers to complete the movement, packing and rehousing of objects across the collection.
  • Develop logistics protocols for use in British Museum areas of Blythe House and communicate those across the Museum and to external stakeholders and contractors.
  • Manage logistics on site at Blythe House during the Blythe House decant programme and be in regular communication with colleagues from the V&A and Science Museum Group.
  • Coordination of contractor and supplier activity at Blythe House ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Contribute to the development of processes that support best practice standards in object handling and transportation; ensuring the implementation and maintenance of those standards across the Blythe House decant project.

About you:

  • Good general education including A levels or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable interest in aspects of the British Museum’s collection.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • IT skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to plan work schedules, and maintain effective processes and procedures.
  • Experience of working on a project.
  • Experience of collecting and collating management information.
