We are looking for a proactive, motivated, forward thinking and dynamic individual to join our Consultant team at Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust.The successful applicant will be based at Winchester. This is a general post with both Obstetrics and Gynaecology commitments. A special interest in fetal medicine or high risk Obstetrics would be welcomed but is not essential.Main duties of the jobAll applicants should have completed the Labour Ward ATSM module. An ATSM in gynaecology oncology or minimal access surgery is desirable. This is a combined Obstetrics and Gynaecology post and an enthusiasm and commitment for both is essential with a contribution to Obstetric Leadership and governance expected as part of delivering a high quality service.All applicants are expected to have been awarded CCT (or be within 6 months of award of CCT) and be on the GMC Specialist Register.About UsHampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) provides hospital services to around 570,000 people living in Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire, and specialist services to patients from all over the country.   • MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCOG or equivalent
  • On the GMC Specialist Register and holding the CCT or within 3 months of obtaining the CCT (with evidence of sound progression)
  • Advanced Labour ward ATSM or equivalent
Desirable
  • High Risk Pregnancy ATSM or equivalent or Fetal Medicine ATSM
EssentialExperience & Knowledge
  • Able to deal independently with common emergencies in general obstetrics
  • Experience of working in the NHS for at least 1 year
  • Desire to support and promote active and normal birth
  • Accredited expertise in the area of declared interest
Desirable
  • Adult Basic Life Support training up to date within 12 months
  • Neonatal Resuscitation training up to date within 12 months
  • Emergency drills training up to date within 12 months
  • ALSO, PROMPT or MOET instructor
EssentialSkills & Ability
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and display leadership
Desirable
  • Ability to offer External Cephalic Version
Research & TeachingEssential
  • Experience of teaching and supervising junior medical and midwifery staff.
  • Evidence of undertaking an audit, service review or guideline which improved patient care
Desirable
  • Experience of managing emergency drills training
  • Publications in a peer reviewed journal
  • Formal training in teaching eg Training the Trainers Course
