A Locum Stroke Consultant is required to join the Hyper Acute Stroke Team at Queens & King George Hospital. Candidates must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register or be eligible for inclusion within six months of the interview date.This job offers an unrivalled opportunity to work with a group of friendly, dynamic and motivated colleagues. You can expect close contact with local GPs and their CCGs and BHRUT University Hospitals NHS Trust. Stroke services will work ‘cross-site in accordance with your agreed job plan.BHRUT provides Hyper-acute stroke Services which include Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurophysiology and Neuro interventional Radiology Services. You would be expected to develop and maintain your interest in research and development and take part in regular clinical governance.Locum Consultant in StrokeTo provide consultant level clinical leadership to junior staff members for the stroke service at BHRUT and ensure that the current vision is maintained within the context of national, regional and local policy with clinical lead. We expect the right candidate to be a role model, able to lead a multidisciplinary team through effective communication and influencing skills and to have strong teaching skills. The post holder will work collaboratively to deliver the clinical care strategy to ensure the highest quality of care for patients and families in all settings and building key internal and external relationships whilst providing clinical expertise in the daily running of the units and clinical care delivered to all patients.Applicants will be expected to have suitable experience in Stroke, Elderly Care/General Internal Medicine (GIM)/Acute Medicine.The new appointee will share the caseload, facilities and trainee grade support with the existing Stroke Consultants and the other Consultants in Neurosciences. The post holder will require a CCT in an appropriate field. The post is the whole time and offers 10 PAs.In collaboration with the existing Consultants, the appointee will support developments in Stroke.The post holder during their sessions in HASU will carry out prompt comprehensive Stroke assessments and thrombolysis care and will determine a care plan.
