About us:

We are a family run lamb and sheep abattoir and cutting plant located just outside the village of Hartshorne, in the National Forest.

About the role:

We’re looking for someone to join our lairage team at our state-of-the-art lamb abattoir in the Derbyshire countryside. The role involves unloading livestock, liaising with livestock lorry drivers, checking FCIs and licenses, feeding animals, moving sheep into pens, and marking up pen cards/ the whiteboard. Maintaining the upkeep of our sheds by bedding down, mucking out and feeding up. We can house up to 3500 sheep daily, split between two sheds and slaughter up to 2400 a day.

Animal welfare is a key priority for us - it will be your responsibility to ensure that our high standards are maintained and that each animal is treated with compassion.

The role will include periods of lone working. You’ll be joining an enthusiastic team, in a rapidly growing family business, where you will be recognised for your contribution.

We are looking for someone with the below characteristics:

• Full drivers’ licence

• Organisational skills

• Team player

• Trustworthy

• Positive attitude

• Previous livestock experience

• Experience driving a JCB essential

• High welfare standards
