LIDAR Test Software Development Engineer

Job Description

Lumentum have an exciting opportunity for a Test Software Development Engineerto join our R&D team based in Towcester, Northamptonshire.

The successful candidate for this role will develop software solutions to automate the characterisation of LIDAR chips for automotive applications.

You will be responsible for design and implementation of software that will characterise and validate our photonics devices; this includes the user interface, hardware control, measurement automation, numerical analysis and data handling.

You will own and drive your project from concept all the way through to deployment into volume manufacturing. Employees are encouraged to have an innovative mind-set and developing new ways of solving problems is positively encouraged.

Test Development is a global organisation within Lumentum and we cover all aspects of product test from wafer level to module level testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement test software to characterise photonics chips.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in R&D, product design and manufacturing to develop new test methods, algorithms and numerical analysis.
  • Management of test and metrology data within the process control database.
  • Release stable and sustainable software solutions into volume manufacturing.
  • Analyse test data to drive yield and process improvements.
  • Ensure solutions meet the quality criteria (Specification, Repeatability, and Accuracy), Dfx goals and maximize capital efficiency.
  • Training and support of manufacturing engineering staff during new product introduction.
  • Part of the role will require spending time in a cleanroom environment. Manufacturing is worldwide and international travelling will be required from time to time.
Essential Requirments
  • Degree level or higher qualification in Electrical/Electronic engineering, computer science, physics or related discipline.
  • Experience in Software development using C/C#/Vb.Net to communicate with external hardware.
Advantagous Requirments

Although not required 2-3 years of experience in any the following would be an advantage:
  • Previous experience of working in test engineering
  • Some awareness of electronic devices and circuits.
  • Test/Measurement instrumentation.
  • Understanding of photonics and/or optical devices,
  • Understanding of data analysis e.g. using Matlab or equivalent.
  • Understanding of statistical process control and Gauge R&R for example using JMP, Minitab.
  • Experience of working in Automotive and or semiconductor industries.
