Main Purpose of the Role
Provide legal support and advice to RWE Generation’s business activities in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Legal advisor for RWE Generation’s UK business
Provide commercially focused legal advice in all principal areas of commercial and corporate law including mergers and acquisitions, NDAs, general commercial contracts, joint ventures, partnering, governance and compliance.
Provision of support to development and new build projects including batteries, hydrogen, carbon capture
Provide development projects and operational business with all required legal support with a particular focus on drafting and advising on project/construction contracts.
Governance guidance and advice
Provide guidance and advice in respect of governance and compliance with UK law.
Learning and keeping up to date with electricity industry rules and regulatory framework
Attend courses and learn on the job
External legal advisors management
Selecting and steering external legal advisors whilst ensuring cost efficiency
Stakeholder management
Be a strong team player and use personal skills to manage all stakeholders effectively whilst protecting the interests of the company.
Problem solving
Provide answers to solutions wherever possible, advising on risks where necessary
Cross company and cross function co-operation
Participate in cross functional team activities and initiatives, looking to broaden RWE network
Knowledge & Skills
- Professional legal qualification (qualified solicitor, barrister or equivalent) with sufficient legal experience to work unsupervised. Good all round commercial and corporate experience with a sound understanding of construction contracting. Basic understanding of consenting/licensing issues would be a bonus as would energy market experience.
- A sound legal approach coupled with a rounded commercial perspective.
- Ability to understand complex legal issues in relation to changes to the electricity generation market as government policy and regulation evolves
- Desire to develop and grow leadership and other skills with an ability to motivate others
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to deal with complex transactions / commercial issues
- Ability to influence stakeholders and management
- Ability to think strategically and adapt to change Willingness to work with colleagues internationally and travel when necessary.
