About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Journalism to help develop and run its exciting new Journalism courses in a well-established and respected Media and Communication unit. You will play a leading role in the new BA Journalism degree programme, as well as contributing to other areas of teaching in Media and Communication.

The University of Leicester has the longest established Media unit in the UK and one of the youngest Journalism programmes, so this post offers an opportunity to be involved with a Media unit with a long and deep research track record while also contributing to the teaching of cutting-edge aspects of Journalism with both a domestic and international focus.

About you

With a PhD in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience, you will be a recognised expert in your specialist field. Expertise in sports journalism and features journalism is key, alongside digital and social media journalism and web design. Alongside this, you will have experience in news production, with a high level of contemporary knowledge, engagement and expertise in television, radio and digital news.

With great communication skills and the motivation to provide the best experience to our students, you will be able to share your enthusiasm for the subject matter. The ability to plan, organise, implement and deliver programmes of work is key.
