About the role

Within our Salisbury Creative Arts team we currently have a vacancy for a Lecturer in Art & Design (Maternity Cover). The role will be predominantly lecturing and running workshops on our FAD course with a focus on 3D. The role will also require you to act as course lead for the FAD study programme, designing curriculum delivery and working to organise wider Creative Arts team teaching on the programme. You’ll need to prepare students for study at higher education and guide them with advice on applying to University.

The role will require you to prepare schemes of learning, lesson and assessment plans, and contribute with active enthusiasm to the wider enrichment of students. This will include supporting pastoral needs, working with the community on live projects and external exhibitions, enrolment and induction, organising study trips and where relevant, supporting UCAS applications.

Enabling learners to maximise their potential, you will ensure your resource materials and teaching reflect best practice contributing to the quality of provision as measured by retention, attendance, success rates, progression, final grades, and value added. You will be an active team player working with colleagues to ensure the highest standards are maintained.

About you

With a degree and background in Art & Design, the successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification and have substantial, practical, experience in the Art and Design industry.

You will ideally have teaching and lecturing experience in a post-16 environment and hold a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards a teaching qualification. You will also ideally be experienced in working on or leading Art & Design programmes, and alongside your experience and skills, you will also be a practising artist or designer who is passionate about their work.

With an enthusiastic, motivated and engaging approach you will have the theoretical and practical skills to energise students and support them to realise their goals. We are interested in hearing from individuals who are effective team players, keen to build relationships that will enrich the student experience, participate in building community and employer networks for work placements, and have the desire to work collaboratively with the immediate and wider team and community.
