The department of Creative, Digital and Leisure Industries is looking for a part-time Art & Design Lecturer to deliver classes within the art and design portfolio, with a specialism within the areas of Textiles and Fashion/Costume (wearable art form). You will produce high quality learning and teaching materials and deliver excellent teaching across art and design levels, in addition you will work to develop new approaches to learning and teaching, making use of new technologies. You will naturally have a strong learner focus.
You will have a degree (or equivalent) in a related subject and ideally hold a teaching qualification, such as TQFE.
Experience in art and design delivery across a wide range of levels, with a sound background in internal quality verification and a desire to develop new and innovative approaches to the delivery of creative education in a college setting is desirable. You will be expected to contribute to new initiatives within the Creative Industries area of the department.
You will also be expected to work closely with colleagues, contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum. Additionally, as an Art and Design Lecturer you will organise and participate in relevant visits and field trips to aid student learning. You will have excellent industry experience and knowledge, having a passion for your subject specialism.
You will translate your experience and expertise into an exciting, dynamic and creative learning experience for students at various levels. In addition, you will be a strong, professional, positive communicator, who is a team player, able to contribute to positive team building and collaborative work. You will also be comfortable delivering creative units at various levels, from access and entry-level classes to Degree level classes.
Crucially, you will be passionate about creativity and providing an outstanding learning experience for the practitioners of tomorrow.
