Pay: £17,500 to £20,500 (£12,418 to £14,547 pro rata)
We are seeking to recruit an outstanding Learning Support Practitioner to meet the needs of young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities.
As a Learning Support Practitioner, you will work closely with the teaching staff to support our students in all aspects of their learning, social development, personal needs and developing their skills for independence and employability. In this role you will be able to make a big difference to our young people, all of whom have a wide range of severe and/or complex needs, with associated communication and learning difficulties.
You need to be able to engage and enthuse our young people and help prepare them for adulthood. You don’t need experience of working in a special needs or education environment, although it would be advantageous, as would experience of college or work-based learning. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills are essential, along with a "can do approach, flexibility, resilience and strong communication and team working skills.

Oakley College is a registered charity and an exciting new development in the Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells district, which opened in September 2018 and is already proving successful.
Learning pathways include: A programme of study and work-related learning and experience that will lead to further vocational training, internships/apprenticeships and employment. A programme of study providing a further 1, 2 or 3 years for young adults to continue to develop their personal life and independent living skills so that they can contribute to society in a number of ways and live an independent or semi-independent life. A vocational programme providing a further 1, 2 or 3 years for young adults to continue to develop their personal life and independent living skills so that they can contribute to society in a number of ways and live an independent life in a supported environment. A bespoke programme of study for learners that require a total communication approach and may use AAC. This is a multi-sensory curriculum to enable the learners to communicate their needs in a supported environment.
Oakley College provision arises out of, but is different to, Oakley School – the District Special School for Tunbridge Wells & the surrounding areas. College students have diverse needs and come from a range of socio-economic backgrounds. Places at Oakley College are currently commissioned by Kent County Council and East Sussex County Council.
