Qualifications:

Social Care qualification coupled with relevant social care experience, equivalent to NVQ level 2 or higher
First Aid at Work
Safeguarding
NVQ Level 3 or higher
Experience working with challenging behaviour
Experience:

Working with people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviours and complex needs
Planning and implementing practical person centred projects appropriate to diverse groups of volunteers and those with special needs
Managing and complying with health and safety requirements and risk assessments
Horticultural experience, particularly vegetable growing
Developing procedures and establishing best practice in a social care environment
Knowledge of and interest in animal care
Experience in liaising with referral agencies, partner organisations and health services
Skills (the ability to):

Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Keep accurate records
Follow set procedures
Manage self and own responsibilities
Use e-mail, Word and Excel to a competent standard
Personal Qualities:

Good team worker, but also able to organise and direct others
Be able to use own initiative

Job Description

Daily care and safeguarding of learners
Planning and delivery of person-centred activities with learners in accordance to the day to day farm routine, development plans and ethical framework guidelines
Daily completion of session plans and monthly completion of learner person centred targets
On-going observation and assessment of learners in relation to personal risk assessments, ability and enjoyment of activities - tailoring of activities as required in response to this. Provide any relevant information or changes to information to Care Farm Co-Ordinator.
Duty to monitor, record and report to the Care Farm Co-Ordinator anything that would be deemed a Safeguarding concern
Maintain Health & Safety standards to eliminate and reduce risks appropriately
Care Farm animal care routine e.g. Animal Feeds (In circumstances where this is not possible, alternative arrangements must be made by that person)
Liaisons with other staff to ensure resources are adequate and appropriate
Liaisons with other staff and volunteers to ensure other farm activities do not compromise the experience of learners and that the farm environment is safe for them to work in
Site hygiene and general upkeep - classroom, toilets and external spaces kept clean and tidy
Motivate Care Farm learners to help with Grower, Education and Animal Welfare Officer
Extra activities i.e. farmers markets/school groups/ fundraisers
To carry out other reasonable duties as assigned by the Care Farm Co-Ordinator and the Greenslate Community Farm board
To use your initiative to promote, protect, develop and extend the farm business and services
Always maintain professional standards and confidentiality – no use of social media during working hours unless sanctioned by the Care Farm Co-Ordinator for Care Farm purposes. Mobiles used for emergency calls only
Daily checks of Care Farm mobile phone – ensure all messages and phone calls are responded to and pass on any messages to the Care Farm Co-Ordinator using specified messages book
To keep up to date information and take lead in updating learner folders e.g. One Page Profiles and Development Targets
