ACS International Schools are recruiting a Learning Resources Coordinator to join the Lower School team at ACS Egham.

The Learning Resources Coordinato will be ensure that the school library collection and program is aligned with the goals and objectives of the school, and is an integral component in supporting research skills, a love of reading, and the programme of inquiry.

Situated on 20 acres of glorious English countryside adjoining the Royal Savill Garden, and only 25 miles from central London, ACS Egham is an IB World School of more than 500 students (ages 4 to 18), and 160 expert faculty and staff from over 50 countries.

Overall Purpose of Job:

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers across the Lower School as well as the single subject teachers to help support lessons and units of instruction using library resources.
  • To empower the students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skilful researchers and ethical users of information
  • Manage the library inventory ensuring it is responsive to the needs of the learning community and the Programme of Inquiry
  • Plan and budget for library initiatives which promote literacy

Main Responsibilities:

Supporting Learning

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum and research skills.
  • Collaborate with classroom and single subject teachers to support their unit inquiries
  • Promoting a variety of texts and genres to broaden student reading experiences.
  • Promote the library collection with teachers through events and recommendations based on student need and unit relevance.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in accreditation and support implementation of long and short-term goals as part of the ACS strategic plans based upon IB and NEASC recommendations.
  • Maintain active involvement with professional organisations and professional development activities related to the role of librarian in a PYP school.
  • Maintain effective relationships with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Adhere to school policies & procedures to protect health & safety of students and to provide a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other ACS library teams on related subjects and subscriptions.
  • Attend multicampus subscription meetings

Library Administration:

  • Develop and maintain library policies, e.g. collection development, circulation, challenged materials, copyright, damaged materials etc.
  • Develop and maintain a functional, accessible, and pleasant library space conducive to a variety of lessons, research projects, and independent student learning activities.
  • Ongoing evaluation and reflection on the school library program and its impact on student learning.
  • Administer budgets according to needs & objectives of the library.
  • Liaise with the DEI Coordinator to ensure our inventory is representative of the school community.
  • Recruit, train & supervise volunteers from the school community, when relevant. (eg. Jaguars in Action or parents)
  • Organise, classify and catalogue library materials following recognized professional standards.
  • Demonstrate competency in selection, acquisition, circulation, maintenance and inventory of materials.
  • Manage time and space effectively, keeping a balance of direct services to patrons and time spent on administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • Teaching or TA certification (preferred)
  • Bachelors Degree or Masters of Library Science Degree (preferred)

Required Experience

  • Children’s school library management experience
  • Knowledge and interest in children’s literature and current information resources
  • Ability to work with teams in a variety of circumstances

Start date:August 2024

Working hours: Monday- Friday 0800: 16:00, term time only.
