EY People Advisory Services are currently engaged in an exciting global initiative, to drive workforce transformation for EY’s clients through the targeted upskilling and reskilling of their employees. As part of this, the EY Skills Foundry™ is developing a series of learning academies that will cover a range of current and future focused topics, that will be instrumental in helping to develop the skills of the future in the workplace.

This initiative has resulted in a number of interesting and challenging roles becoming available. These roles will provide individuals with an exceptional opportunity to be involved with a high-profile initiative, to interact with consulting teams from across the globe and to engage with senior EY leadership.

We require applicants with drive, insight and determination to build a successful solution that will help shape the future of learning / reskilling. We’re recruiting for a Learning Experience Design Manager to join the global product team, to shape and deliver high quality, innovative, digital learning products, which form part of EY’s global Learning Academies.

Reporting to the Learning Design Lead, the post-holder will work closely with Learning design Director, Academy, Dev and platform leads, as well as specialist vendors, to shape the Learning academy solution and to design, develop and deploy world-class digital learning programmes which form part of the EY Skills Foundry product suite.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Work closely with the Learning Design Lead, the Learning Director and other Learning Experience Designers, Creatives and Developers, to shape the learning design approach and experience for the Learning Academies (including defining the supporting learning science / pedagogy).
  • Own, co-create and update our global design system and manifesto, as well as associated standards and guidelines for learning design.
  • Contribute to the creation of web accessibility standards from a learning design perspective
  • Collaborate closely with Academy leads to shape and maintain learning paths and to create and curate content for specific learning academies.
  • Play a lead role in onboarding and collaborating with vendors and regional teams to create best-in-class learning solutions that are consistent with our global design approach and standards.
  • Take ownership for the creation and maintenance of relevant product toolkits and other learning design collateral to guide vendors, regional teams and other team members to create content on behalf of academies.
  • Collaborate with creative and design teams to define a design and delivery approach for vendors and regional teams to follow when creating content for academies.
  • Be an active liaison with SMRs, bringing your learning design experience and insights about how people learn together with their subject expertise to curate and/or design relevant, effective learning. Be prepared to coach others to do the same.
  • Oversee relevant QA activities and editorial reviews with a keen eye for detail, to ensure output consistently meets required standards.
  • Contribute to the creation of EY Thought Leadership to share good practice internally and externally, raising the profile and credibility of our approach and solutions.
  • Identify, manage and track curated content usage and support management of vendor relationships.
  • Work closely with the Learning design lead to evolve and enhance our data-driven approach to measuring the quality and efficacy of the learning academies and to drive continuous data-informed improvements to the learning products.
  • Support asset management (management and organisation of content appropriate mechanism)
  • Provide support to regional engagement teams to deploy and evaluate learning in accordance with global standards.
  • Work with Learning Designers, Academy leads, Creatives and Developers to create and refine design processes that support the delivery of quality design solutions.
  • Be a problem solver who builds positive relationships both within the Learning Academies team, product team, and the wider EY Skills Foundry™ team – and with vendors and regional EY teams
  • Communicate clearly and with the confidence and proactively contribute ideas.
  • Prioritise effectively and work on multiple project deliverables with tight deadlines.
  • Keep up to date on industry best practice, latest trends and progression in learning.

People and practice management:
  • People management / counselling responsibilities for others in the team
  • Work closely with the Learning Design team to ensure the Learning design team are continuously improving skills by facilitating the creation of relevant learning plans
  • Lead collaborative sessions to help drive innovation and foster a culture of learning in the team
  • Provide timely, authentic and constructive feedback to colleagues and seek feedback in return
  • Assist with the integration and inclusion of new team members
  • Be up to date with key technical skills, and with latest development trends - and share this expertise with others
  • Encourage development of team members though formal and informal coaching
  • Reinforce our values, through behaviours, delivery and interactions with others

Experience, Skills and Attributes:
  • A demonstrable experience of managing the design of interactive, immersive and engaging digital learning solutions that lead to measurable skills development and behavioural change, including but not limited to: eLearning, video, audio, game-based learning, interactive video, simulations and mobile learning
  • A strong understanding of learning theory / pedagogy, and UX techniques, with demonstrable experience of applying these concepts to learning design
  • Experience of owning and managing the design of learning products
  • Experience of curating content from a range of providers to create one engaging experience for learners
  • Experience of managing and collaborating with vendors to create bespoke solutions, to co-create and to manage quality of output
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills with an ability to write effective instructional text and copy (for a range of purposes and audiences)
  • Experience working directly and influencing clients, internal stakeholders, Subject Matter Resources, and project teams to scope learning requirements and design effective solutions
  • Extensive experience of creating effective storyboards and scripts and proven ability to manage the quality of outputs produced by others in the team
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced professional services environment
  • Good relationship and stakeholder management skills with the confidence and ability to collaborate with other members of the design team, contribute ideas, and challenge and proactively communicate issues to stakeholders
  • Excellent eye for detail, ambitious for the quality of your work, and a constant search for excellence
  • Keen problem solver with a ‘can-do’ mindset
  • Confident to work both independently and collaboratively, with the design team
  • Good prioritisation skills with an ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced professional services environment
  • Passion for innovation and staying up to date with the latest learning and digital development trends
  • An open mind and willingness to learn and grow within a diverse learning experience design role

Ideally, you’ll also have….
  • A degree / post-graduate qualification in Education / Learning Design / Digital pedagogy / Psychology / Neuroscience or related subject are desirable but not critical
  • Experience of designing game-based learning and simulations
  • Familiarity of with popular authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Evolve, Captivate etc)
  • Knowledge of mindset, behavioural and technical assessment tools and techniques and how they can be linked with learning programmes
  • Experience of working on projects gained working within a professional services firm, global consultancy firm and/or large private and/or public sector organisations
