The Lead Project Engineering Manager - System Integration is a senior project engineer with significant experience within the context of integrating complex railway signalling and control systems, who provides technical leadership to a team of Regional Integration Engineers. The role will include the establishment of an Integration Engineering community and the development of best practice approaches in conjunction with the national multidisciplinary Engineering Managers.

What are my responsibilities?

  • Develop a System Integration Engineering community to support consistent delivery of System Integration across the business portfolio.
  • Provide technical leadership for the community of Regional System Integration Engineers.
  • Undertake local System Integration Engineer duties for the home office.
  • Support the management team to monitor the progress of works and ensure that the integration is being planned and implemented on all projects as required
  • Ensure that the technical standards are maintained in all aspects of System Integration delivery project work, in order that safe and successful project implementation and future reliability is achieved
  • Assist with forecasting the overall integration engineering resources and key skills necessary for allocated projects.
  • Both producing (for local office) and reviewing the quality/accuracy (nationally) of System Integration Architectures and associated Risk Based Integration Plans
  • Supporting the Data Design Manager in assessing the consistency and technical compatibility of different data baselines.
  • Leading the execution of System Integration testing activities for home office and supporting the execution of those activities nationally.
  • Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, Company procedures including development of the project Safety Plan input.
  • Support the N &SI Engineering Manager in the development of Best practice documentation and processes
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to develop junior engineers
  • Perform duties as directed by senior management from time to time
What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • Significant experience in the delivery of Integrated Railway Signalling and Control Systems.
  • Excellent communications skills, understanding of task time and people management (essential)
  • Strong leadership skills including an ability to drive a team’s performance (essential)
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent (essential)
  • Member of the IET, IRSE or other recognised professional body (essential)
  • Appropriate technical certification or evidence of competence.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Signal and Railway Engineering.
  • Practical experience of the operational requirements of railway construction works
  • Knowledge of project safety requirements and contract conditions
