We are seeking an accredited art psychotherapist to join the Early Intervention for Psychosis service in Bradford as a 12 month pilot to evidence the impact art psychotherapy can have with people experiencing a first episode of psychosis and young people who are at very high risk of developing psychosis.

We are particularly keen to hear from people who are experienced and passionate about working in culturally appropriate and engaging ways with people from diverse communities who are likely to have experienced racism and discrimination as part of their lived experiences.

We are hoping to hear from art psychotherapists who are passionate about reducing mental health inequalities and contributing to the evidence base of working in creative and culturally aware ways to support the recovery of people experiencing psychosis and their families.

Bradford is the 6th largest city in the UK. The Trust patch goes from urban Bradford right up to Settle, Ingleton and beyond. The Bradford metropolitan area is vibrant and diverse with over 140 different languages spoken in Bradford schools and a range of cultural events that celebrate the city’s heritage and diversity such as the Bradford Festival and Bradford Literature events that attract local, national and international guests. Bradford became a City of Sanctuary in recent years to welcome asylum seekers and refugees.

Most of the BDCT area is well linked on public transport and significantly cheaper to rent or buy property than the national average. It’s an area with fantastic cultural heritage- from the Bronte parsonage to the listed buildings of Little Germany and the UNESCO heritage site of Saltaire.

There are areas of outstanding natural beauty on our doorstep like the Yorkshire Dales, Calderdale Valley and the North York Moors. Areas in our catchment range from some of the most deprived to the most affluent, from inner city to rural farmlands and market towns. You would be working with a wide range of cultural diversity, deprivation and complexity.

We seek someone passionate about working with diversity and marginalised communities as part of a multi disciplinary team committed to reducing health inequalities and providing trauma informed psychological and psychologically informed care.

This is a really exciting time to be joining the trust as we develop closer relationships with our vibrant third sector providers and grass root community organizations to provide more joined up community based support wherever possible. We are proud to be developing our services to become a fully trauma informed organisation.

We welcome your application and any questions you may have.
