Lead Anaesthetics Consultant
Job Reference: J143-A-21-41162
Employer: Location: Shepton Mallet Salary: £120,000 per annum

Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Anaesthetic Consultant at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet. The position would be particularly suitable for a skilled senior anaesthetist with prior experience in a leadership role and a passion for modern regional anaesthesia. We are looking for an inspiring leader to support the anaesthetic department and to contribute to the strategic planning and the clinical governance of the hospital.
Shepton Mallet is a very busy elective hospital, which was rated Outstanding by the CQC in 2016 when the hospital was known as Shepton Mallet Health Partnership run by Care UK (Shepton Mallet) Limited. The combination of strong clinical governance and high volumes of work creates an environment where clinical excellence can flourish: the unit is currently a positive outlier for improvement after hip and knee replacement in the national PROMs study, and it has been so for the past three years. Rapid recovery pathways are embedded in the team culture, and day case hip replacement surgery is being carried out. As a Lead Anaesthetic Consultant, you will be able to focus on developing your leadership potential in a busy and friendly unit away from the stresses of frontline acute work.
You will be supporting the anaesthetic team, working closely with the Medical Director Jac Ciampolini and the governance team. You will be able to contribute to the planning and development of new services, such as the expansion of day case arthroplasty.
Personal development is encouraged and supported, with the possibility of involvement in strategic planning at companywide level.
Terms and conditions will be negotiated in accordance with the candidate’s experience. Although this is a full time position, applications from colleagues wishing to work part time will also be considered.
