Landscaping Labourer
Opportunity
We are looking to appoint a self-employed hardworking and dedicated Landscaping Labourerto join us and perform a variety of work tasks, in order to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects, including, shovelling, carrying and moving heavy materials, mixing concrete and operating a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks etc.
To be a successful Landscaping Labourer at our company, the candidate must be highly skilled, experienced and will need to contribute to build the perfect team, where we can help each other and take jobs as challenge and achieve and maintain the work standards and make happy clients!
Responsibilities
- Work safely and in a responsible manner, with eager participation and initiative
- Construct walkways and patios, walls, fences, decks, posts, etc.
- Dig ditches or trenches and perform land clearing activities
- Plant and maintain garden beds and lawns
- Demonstrate active participation in regular crew meetings
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects
- Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting/carrying
- Comply with all company policies and regulations and local health and safety regulations
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
- Communicate to customer in polite and courteous manner
- Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas
About You
- You MUST have your own transport
- Must be self-employed for the winter months – depending on performance, a spring contract can be offered
- At least have a high school degree or GED
- Must have 2+ years’ experience in the landscape/construction industry
- Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and materials
- Ability to work under varying and sometimes, challenging environmental conditions, such as, heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold etc.
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Highly alert, and demonstrates problem solving skills
- Demonstrable ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Demonstrable competency in specific materials, methods, tools, equipment and techniques
- Demonstrable basic math skills
- Ability to pay high attention to detail in technical specifications and written communication
- Must be highly structured in organization and time management, demonstrating initiative
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities
- Ability to understand basics of grading and layout
- Driven to improve efficiencies, with ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
- Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
NOTE:The candidate will need to come for apaid trial week after interview, in order to interact with the other team members and to determine if the job is what they would like to do!
