- Mirfield, West YorkshireCompetitive Salary DOEOur client offers a full range of professional landscape management services - including grounds maintenance, landscape construction, tree care and garden design that are available to private estate owners, commercial and private clients across the UK.Due to continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and reliable Estimator with experience in the landscape or construction sector to join their friendly and dedicated team within the Commercial Landscaping Department in Mirfield, West Yorkshire.Job Outline:Effectively preparing and submitting tenders for the Commercial Landscape Division, managing awards and subsequent handovers to their highly experienced operational teams.Researching innovative solutions, adapting, and growing within an ever-changing marketplace and building long-term relationships with current and prospective clients.Responsibilities:
  • Working with the lead estimator, assist in managing estimating workflow to provide complete proposals before bid deadlines.
  • Assist customers with technical information and pricing at tender stage and during pre-construction.
  • Review plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and the most effective delivery methods.
  • Define scopes of work for various trades and distribute subcontract bid packages, if required.
  • Obtain written quotes for all materials and site furnishings.
  • Complete plan take-off and enter bid information into the company’s preferred software program.
  • Assign or propose profit margins based on current pricing guidelines.
  • Review bids with lead estimator and Head of Operations, based on approval limits.
  • Participate in pre-contract and post-contract meetings.Qualifications/Experience:Ideally the candidate will possess:
  • Qualifications to Degree/HND or similar in construction, quantity surveying, hard or soft landscape construction is preferable, but not essential – subject to previous experience
  • Awareness of tendering and the estimating process and a good working understanding of contract and risk management.
  • A high level of IT proficiency, particularly within Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail, working to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to demonstrate professional communication at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with good time management and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight tender deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships with subcontractors and customers.
  • Ability to multi-task in the fast-paced work environment.In return our client offers:
