Job Description


Please note this is a full time position, there are two shifts available:

  • Monday to Friday 07:00 till 15:00.
  • Monday to Friday 08:00 till 16:00

Working within our state of the art facilities in Wolverhampton, this role will be to assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory regarding timely dispatch of samples to be subcontracted to the relevant testing laboratory. These should be dispatched under the appropriate conditions and with the correct documentation.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Ensure all samples to be subcontracted are dispatched within a 24-hour period of registration, where possible, ensuring daily targets are achieved.
  • Raising Purchase Orders for partner laboratories undertaking the analysis.
  • Efficient use of courier portals to upload consignments for collection.
  • Appropriate packaging of samples to ensure they reach the testing laboratory under the correct conditions for analysis.
  • Regular use of reports to aid in the timely dispatch of samples to partner laboratories.
  • Contacting partner laboratories to resolve queries regarding sample imports.
  • Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
  • Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
  • Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual in order to ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures and associated documents which are referred to in the manual.
  • To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UKAS, ISO methods is desirable
  • Good laboratory skills and practices is essential
  • Enthusiasm, energy and a driven outlook
  • At least one year’s laboratory and production experience.
  • Lean production principles
  • Experience of Laboratory electronic management systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Degree or higher would be advantageous
  • Maths, English, Chemistry or Biology at GCSE grade C or above or equivalent
