The PAM Group are a rapidly expanding business, and we are actively recruiting for a Laboratory Manager to join us on a fixed term basis for 6 months to support with the day to day management and development of the Laboratory site based at Daresbury.
This role is a critical element to the business and will be responsible for the following:
- The day to day running of the laboratory and maintaining all practices and processes in line with standards.
- Managing the technical activities of the team and blood sciences section of the laboratory.
- Providing training and specialist advice on technical issues and problem solving to team members.
- To assist in the validation and verification of testing.
- To support Quality through SOP and report writing.
- To work flexibly in reflection of service needs which may include an extended working day to provide the best possible service to our clients.
- To maintain and promote professional image of the pathology department.
Experience
- Multidiscipline Biomedical Scientist with experience working across biochemistry and haematology.
- Experience of leading a small team.
- Working across a range of biochemistry and haematology analysers.
- Experience in the validation/verification of new tests and equipment.
- Experience of UKAS/ISO15189.
- Experience in Microbiology, Haematology, Biochemistry and Serology
- Relevant specialist knowledge and practical experience.
- Training of junior staff and colleagues
- Knowledge of H&S safety requirements of a Blood Sciences laboratory.
Essential Qualifications
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist having gained a BSc or equivalent.
- Hold or be eligible for Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIBMS) through Institute Higher Specialist Diploma or Diploma of Higher Specialist Practice; or hold MSc in Biomedical Sciences or assessed equivalent. Demonstrate on-going CPD.
- Organisational skills.
- Understanding of responsibilities around UKAS 15189.
- Ability to prioritise.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to demonstrate leadership and management skills.
- Relevant specialist knowledge and practical experience.
