Forest Research is seeking to appoint a full-time Laboratory Manager on a permanent basis. This is a new position that has been created to manage the research laboratories at Forest Research NRS and to work closely with the equivalent laboratories at Alice Holt. The research activities done in the laboratories, cover a range of disciplines including tree health, forest genetics, silviculture, climate change science, and soil science. These areas of research provide a strong evidence base and expertise to enable decisions on tree and forest policy and practices.

The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for overseeing the smooth functioning of several laboratory spaces, which include supporting compliance to health and safety and COSHH requirements, management of equipment, general laboratory hygiene, and procurement of consumables and equipment. The role will also be involved in helping to develop policies and processes to ensure continuous improvement of the laboratories. The job will include overseeing general laboratory staff competence as well as being responsible for organising or delivering training activities related to the laboratory.
