Job Overview:
Labcorp Drug Development is looking for a Laboratory Automation Specialist.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exhibit mastery relating to laboratory automation, including but not limited to Programming, Standard Operating Procedures, Equipment Training Documentation, Metrology Specification Requests, Equipment/Software Validation Documents
- Support regulatory / client audits and visits as required
- Serve as the subject matter expert and main point of contact for laboratory automation across CTTS
- Coordinate large project scopes (e.g. new technology) to ensure proper execution and timely completion
- Champion laboratory automation with external clients
- Solve problems independently, contacting internal or external clients for clarification as needed
- Implement laboratory automation, wherever possible end to end automation, using Lean Six Sigma methodologies factoring in the full process including steps that are outside of the automated process
Documentation:
- Ensure that their individual training records are up to date and accurately reflect their capabilities
- Ensure adequate training plans in place for laboratory robotics
- Maintain files of all relevant documentation for inspection by QA and other regulatory agencies
- Support the issue of SOP’s detailing specific procedures relevant to automation
Health and Safety:
- Knowledge and practice of local regulations, including but not limited to personal protective equipment, substance safety, GMO assessments
Education/Qualifications:
- The post holder should ideally have a relevant scientific qualification and / or an appropriate amount of experience
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a senior laboratory or laboratory automation role
- Experience and application of process design and implementation
- Experience and application of system validation
- Knowledge and understanding of regulations (GMP / GLP / GCP)
- Basic computing skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets (e.g. Word, Excel)
- Must be able to lift large, bulky weights for short periods of time
