This role is not a graduate role and we would welcome applications from those who are not graduates, those who have lab experience already or those with A Levels and / or GCSE’s in Science.

Working in the Genetic Toxicology laboratories at Harrogate, North Yorkshire duties will include:

  • Routine formulations of materials prepared and supplied as requested and at the appropriate times.
  • To take on any other assigned duties in any of the Genetic Toxicology laboratory areas.
  • Maintenance, cleaning and calibration of equipment within assigned area.
  • Recording of daily metrology and balance calibrations in assigned area.
  • Jointly responsible for the removal of laboratory waste.
  • Assist in the preparation of non-sterile and sterile fluids as required together with any relevant sterility checks liaising with customers as necessary to maintain production.
  • Disposal of expired solutions or materials.
  • Assists with the collection, washing and sterilisation of glassware and equipment to maintain stocks of sterile and non- sterile consumables for the laboratory area’s.
  • Assist in the correct storage and logging of all test article dosing solution samples or plasma analysis samples into/out (including their destruction) of the department.
  • Assisting with ordering and maintenance of consumable items, media and stock chemical solutions as required.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Good general education A’Levels/GCSE’s.

Experience:

  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Previous lab experience advantageous.
  • Ability to accurately read, record and communicate information.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Familiarity with standard spreadsheet and word-processing software applications.
  • Communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GLP and aseptic techniques would be advantageous.
