Positive Employment is currently recruiting Public Health Specialist for Children and Young People and Families to work for our client based in Enfield.

The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of strategies and action plans to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families living in Enfield.

The post holder will be able to work independently without the need for substantial supervision. They must demonstrate a strong awareness of health inequalities and the wider determinants of health. Additionally, they will have the ability to critically appraise evidence from a range of sources; make recommendations and take actions to implement, based on a sound and thorough understanding and analysis of the evidence base, information and data.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The post will support the equitable, and evidence-based, delivery of clients, NHS and other services to people in the borough of Enfield, to promote better health and wellbeing outcomes and to reduce health inequalities. Enfield has significant health and wellbeing needs and has significant inequalities in outcomes. Public Health expertise and resources can help reduce the burden on social care through the promotion of the use of evidence in prevention and early intervention.
  • The postholder will be able to work independently without the need for substantial supervision and will take a lead on specific areas of work identified in the Public Health work plan, including topic areas and/or lead responsibility for managing the development, implementation and evaluation of projects, programmes and other areas of work, working to the responsible Consultant in Public Health and to the Director of Public Health as appropriate.
  • The postholder will work with commissioners and others to ensure that high quality commissioning, based on need and evidence, supports health improvement. The postholder will work with services and other partner organisations to help build public health capacity and capability and support the design, implementation and evaluation of services and pathways.
  • The postholder will critically appraise evidence from a range of sources; make recommendations and take actions to implement, based on a sound and thorough understanding and analysis of the evidence base, information and data.

Requirements:

  • The post holder will be educated to Degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years experience
  • The post holder will hold or commit to working towards achievement of UKPHR Practitioner Registration
  • Understanding of the wider determinants of health and wellbeing
  • Project management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on update service

Working hours: 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday

This is a Temporary role but could possibly become permanent
