lowRISC (https://www.lowrisc.org) is a non-profit Community Interest Company that uses a collaborative engineering approach to develop and maintain open source silicon designs and supporting software. We produce high-quality, security-focused, open, flexible IP via projects like the OpenTitan (https://www.opentitan.org) silicon root of trust (https://www.opentitan.org). Our expertise includes processor and SoC design - with a particular focus on hardware security, design verification, RISC-V tools, and the LLVM compiler. Our mission is to unlock the potential of open source silicon and enable its widespread adoption, with more credible, accessible and efficient silicon solutions than exist today.

Job Summary

Successful candidates will have demonstrable expertise in technical project management. They will take ownership of lowRISC’s contributions to the OpenTitan project plan and be responsible for ascertaining and delivering "ground truth" to project leadership. Honest evaluation and straightforward communication are a must. This project is a high-profile effort encompassing both hardware and software and necessitates tight collaboration between our engineering team and that of our partners -- who are expanding -- at ETH Zurich, G+D Mobile Security, Google, Nuvoton, Seagate, and Western Digital. As such, the role requires frequent communication with engineering, legal and operational stakeholders to prepare realistic status updates to team leads and senior external staff, so excellent relationship management skills are required. You will be responsible for communicating program reality to the project leads, including senior staff at our partner organizations.

Required Skills, Experience, And Qualifications

• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills (writing samples will be required as part of the interview process)
• Strong relationship management abilities
• Experience in project management on software, hardware, or mixed, projects
• A history of successful delivery in the face of challenging circumstances
• A driven personality, yet able to communicate with care
• Understanding of planning, scheduling, risk management and resource allocation
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience on silicon and/or security related projects, especially with regards to certification or silicon tapeout
• Experience liaising with remote development teams
  

For suitable candidates lowRISC offers Tier 2 Visa sponsorship subject to UK Visas & Immigration conditions being met. Starting salary is 55-75K GBP depending on experience. Benefits include a generous employer pension contribution (up to 12.5%) and holiday allowance (33 days including public holidays). You will join us at our offices in the centre of Cambridge.
