Summary

Sutton House has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Programming & Partnerships Officer. This unexpected Tudor gem in Hackney hosts a diverse and inclusive programme of events and activities throughout the year including weddings, a lively Over 55s group, community drama sessions, private hires and more alongside our guided tours visitor offer.

Hours: 37.5 per week. Monday – Friday (occasional evening and weekend working required)

Salary: £24393 per annum. Inclusive of an additional Inner London Weighting allowance of £4,465 per annum.

Contract: Fixed term role

Set in the heart of lively Hackney, Sutton House’s history spans over 500 years, from a seat of Tudor power to an 80s punk squat. Today, Sutton acts as a lively cultural and social centre for the community and a venue for weddings and private events, whilst continuing to attract visitors through guided specialist tours. A strong team spirit and collaborative working environment is key to the success of Sutton House and we are looking for a proactive, creative colleague to manage partnerships that support its future vision.

What you’ll be doing

Please note: This opportunity is open to external and internal applicants and would be a great opportunity to experience this role / working for the National Trust for a short time

This is a fixed-term role covering the existing Programming & Partnerships Officer while they are on a secondment in another role. The contract end date is not certain, but we expect it will be no later than the end of February 2022. The ideal candidate will be available to begin in the role by the end of October 2021.

The role will be about supporting the delivery of our current programme, as well as programming and producing new tours/activities, while building and maintaining our commercial and community partner relationships.

The Programming & Partnerships Officer is responsible for all aspects of event delivery – from the initial enquiry, contracting and taking payment, to delivery and gathering feedback. They work closely within the small staff team and collaborate frequently, for example supporting a Visitor Experience Officer with the administration and freelancer bookings of sessions for our Over 55s group; working with the Collections & House Officer on Conservation in Action offers; and working closely with the House & Gardens Manager and volunteers on delivering a new Christmas experience.

Who we’re looking for Please submit a CV and Cover Letter to let us know how you meet the following skills and experience:
  • Experience in directly delivering visitor programmes and/or working with community or commercial partners to deliver events and activities, ideally for and with audiences in the heritage or visitor attraction sectors
  • Experience in building, maintaining, and developing partnership relationships
  • A collaborative, empathic approach – able to adapt your plans and style to the needs of partners, team members and audience
  • Some knowledge and experience of managing costs and expenditure
  • Strong organisational skills including setting priorities and meeting deadlines. Able to work on own initiative
  • Customer focussed approach with experience in delivering high standards of customer service
  • Willing to work flexibly within the team to support the day-to-day visitor offer, occasionally offering introductory talks or guided tours of the property
