The Manager of Product Environmental Compliance will be responsible for ensuring compliance of all Lumentum products with the global environmental regulations, standards and customer requirements. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams in multiple geographies.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the Product Environmental Compliance team to ensure products comply with world-wide environmental laws, regulations and customer requirements, including RoHS, REACH, POPs, ELV, WEEE and others
• Manage compliance program, develop team objectives and project plans to ensure timely implementation of new requirements like an elimination of certain hazardous substances from products
• Enhance related processes and procedures to ensure continuous product compliance and improved process efficiency
• Oversee compliance data collection from suppliers, escalate to suppliers and internal teams for resolution
• Review compliance documentation for components and products during the product development process and for existing products
• Review product engineering changes to ensure continuous compliance
• Ensure proper review and approval of product compliance documentation, issue compliance certifications for products, complete customers’ questionnaires and respond to customer inquiries
• Review customer specifications regarding product environmental compliance
• Collaborate with other functional teams like Supply Chain, R&D, Product Engineering, Sales, Product Line Management, Contract Manufacturers
• Keep up to date with environmental compliance regulations and standards affecting electronic products
• Communicate new regulatory and customer requirements within Lumentum, assess the risks and implications of the changes for the product compliance
• Develop and deliver trainings
• Participate in industry working groups, draft applications for RoHS exemptions extensions, provide contributions to the public stakeholder consultations
• Identify improvement opportunities to the compliance management tool and support the change implementation
• Contribute to the corporate social responsibility report
• Mentor team members, provide them guidance for successful project execution and personal development

Job requirements/qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of work experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years of work experience in environmental compliance, preferably in electronic industry
• Minimum two years of experience managing people in multiple geographies
• Expert knowledge of environmental compliance regulations and standards affecting electronic products like RoHS, REACH, POPs, ELV, WEEE and others
• Sound technical knowledge of materials and hazardous substances used in electronics
• Excellent teamwork, communication and presentation skills
• Well-organized, able to analyze data, check for errors and inaccuracies
• Proven ability to multitask and to work in a high intensity working environment
• An ability to work under own initiative and to prioritize multiple workloads and tasks whilst still meeting timelines
• Proven experience in working with multiple departments in different time zones
• Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
• Familiarity with RBA requirements is highly preferred
